The Staff Council

The Staff council comprises all members of the staff in the college. It is a vital as well as powerful body head by the Head of the institution. A Secretary is nominated by him and assigned duty to record the proceedings of the Council's meetings and manage its affairs. The Staff council mormally meets every year to pass the results of the students in the college examinations. It decides on the criteria to promote the students to the next higher class or to detain them as the case may be. At the outset, the minutes of the previous meeting are read out by the Secretary for approval by the members. Besides, the council is convened to discuss important issues or to deal with emergency or unforeseen situations that might rise from time to time. Any decision taken by this body is deemed to be a collective view of its members and cannot be over ruled even by the Head of the Institution.

 

Anti-Ragging Cell

As per the UGC Guidelines , an anti-ragging cell has been formed with the group of members from the staff selected and appointed by the Head of the Institution, Ragging is nothing but a form of prevention characterized by the verbal abuse , Physical torture, assault, sexual harassment, violence, confinement etc. It is responsibility of the cell to curb the menace of ragging in the Institution. After receiving any complaint of ragging , the Head of the Institution has to register an FIR with the police within 24 hours. Besides the anti-ragging cell also tries to ensure that-

  • The guidelines regarding Ragging and printed I the Admission Prospectus to create awareness among the students.
  • The telephone numbers of the members of the anti-ragging cell are published in the prospectus.
  • Every student and his/her parents files an affidavit, not to indulge in ragging.
  • Posters are prominently displayed detailing the laws and punishment against ragging.
  • 5. The anti-ragging squad makes surprise visits to hostels during the first few months as well as the college premises

 

Anti- Sexual Harassment Cell

In 1997 , the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India took cognizance and addressed the issue of sexual harassment at the work place. In a landmark judgment, the court created mandatory sexual harassment prevention guidelines for the work place applicable all over India. Accordingly, an anti-sexual harassment cell has been established in our college comprising a group of members from among the teaching staff nominated by the Principal. Functions

  • To provide a neutral, confidential and supportive environment for the members of the faculty, staff and students who may have been sexually harassed.
  • To ensure a fair and timely resolution of sexual harassment complaints.
  • To provide awareness about sexual harassment through educational initiatives such as:
  1. Production, distribution and circulation of printed materials , posters and handouts.
  2. Awareness workshop.
  3. Counseling.
