The Department of English focuses on the study of the English language, literature, writing, and culture. It is designed to help students develop strong communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and an understanding of the complex relationships between language, culture, and society. The department offers UG and PG courses to cultivate students' proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and interpreting texts, both in traditional and modern contexts.
To develop critical thinking, analysis and appreciation of literature and develop effective communication skills among the students of the department. To help students learn to interpret and understand various literary works written in different ages through closely analyzing the socio-cultural, historical and political context of the time.
To inspire students to develop a passion for English Literature and Language To develop in students’ important soft skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, verbal and written communication and problem-solving ability. To inspire them to learn and appreciate the World Literature represented through their values, cultures, traditions, nationalism, attitudes, thoughts, beliefs, emotions, feelings and experiences of human conditions.
